Dubai is served by the Consulate General
Dubai is a city in the UAE, not a separate country. Travellers in Dubai and the Northern Emirates should check the Consulate General of India, Dubai. The correct office depends on consular jurisdiction and the service required.
How to contact a mission effectively
- Open the mission’s official government website and choose the correct service—passport, OCI, welfare, visa or emergency.
- Use the service-specific email or appointment channel where listed; the main switchboard may not answer case-status questions.
- State full name, passport number (partially masked in ordinary email), local location, contact number and a concise description.
- For an emergency, state the nature of distress and attach supporting evidence if requested.
- Never send OTPs, banking PINs or full card details to someone claiming to be from an embassy.
Country jurisdiction matters
The principal mission is not always your servicing office. The United States, Canada, Australia and other countries have consulates covering specific states or provinces. Use the MEA Countries, Regions & Missions directory to find every post and then check jurisdiction on that post’s official website.
Emergency versus general enquiry
Death, serious accident, detention, a stranded minor, major distress or an urgent need for an emergency travel document may justify an emergency contact. Routine passport status, appointment availability and general document questions should go through the normal service channel.
